Misspelling

Misspellings are not usual in the Hungarian language. In fact I have never seen a misspelled name in a Hungarian official document ever. Unfortunatelly, the misspelling of Hungarian and other names are very common in Australia. You may wish to have the misspelled words corrected by the local Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages before obtaining a good certificate. Hungarian authorities may reject misspelled documents.

If you are unsure about the spelling of a Hungarian word, enter it into Google.

Marriage Certificates warning

Please be advised that the Hungarian authorities will not accept the Marriage Certificate issued by the marriage celebrant or the priest. It is regarded as a commemorative item only, not an official certificate. How do you know that it is not the right one? If the certificate has the Australian coat of arm on it, then it is not the right one.

You need to get an extract from the Registry in your state. If you wish to obtain a copy of your Australian marriage certificate you may apply through official web site of the relevant State or Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

The official extract will bear the name of the state and will have a Registration Number in the top right hand corner.
